Woven Gradient Mosaic Chef's Knife

Date

2025

This Project was the culmination of what I've learned over the years from several world-class mentors. It features a mosaic Damascus pattern that was carefully crafted with Mareko Maumasi, of Maumasi Fire Arts, at his studio in Olympia Washington. The Integral bolster expertly displays the material flow into the blade, showcasing the detailed forging work that was required to pull off this piece of art. The blade meets the handle with a curved fitup that I learned from Salem Straub of Promethean Blades. The internal construction features a full length threaded tang and machined copper pommel nut to keep everything locked together mechanically in addition to the epoxy used to glue the handle on. The handle is made from a primo piece of Hawaiian Koa wood, fully stabilized by K&G. Tying it all together is a subtle red G10 spacer.
