Floating Explosion Chef's Knife

Date

2022

This blade came to me in a dream. I was maybe 18 years old, and always kept a journal next to my bed so I could sketch ideas down before I forgot them. Fast forward to 2022, and I got to take a 5-day class with David Lisch, MS. He taught me an incredible amount about knife making and what I want to aspire for in life as an artist, a man, and a bladesmith. He has since become one of my closest friends and greatest mentors. I knew Dave's work because of how unconventional, unique, and art focused it was. When I scheduled the class with him, I knew it would be a great opportunity to create something weird and interesting. I brought out my old floating blade sketch, and updated it to my more modern artistic preferences. I brought the sketch with me, as well as a block of mosaic I had made, and got to work with Dave. Needless to say, the project turned out exceptional, and one of a kind.

The blade is 1084/15n20 mosaic, the handle is forged/fabricated mild steel with Koa scales, and bronze domed pins.
